Searching For An Email In Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook is a personal information manager included in the Microsoft Office Suite. It is widely recognized as an email client application, and appreciated for its simple tools for email management. Outlook also allows configuring of multiple email accounts to it and manage separate accounts in a single interface.
With multiple email accounts synced in Outlook, there will be loads of emails piled up in the program. Thus, scrolling through the pages for a particular email might seem a bit upsetting. However, with Outlook search feature, you can easily find the required email, no matter how old it is. Steps to follow

  • Launch Microsoft Outlook on your computer by clicking on the desktop shortcut button for the application. If you have not created a shortcut link for Outlook, go to the Microsoft Office folder in the Start menu to find the Microsoft Office Outlook link.
  • Select the specific folder, in which the required email is located. Enter a search query in the Search box located at the top of the Outlook application window. Go to the Search Options and deselect the Display search results as I type when possible option.
  • Go through the search results page and locate the email that contains the required information. If there are too many emails in the results page, add some more keywords in the Search box for advanced search.
  • Click on the Expand the Query Builder option in the search results page, and enter respective keywords in From, Body, Subject and To fields.
  • If you wish to narrow the search results further, click on the Add Criteria button, and enter search queries that may be helpful in searching the specific email. The criteria will be updated for future needs in the search query syntax field.
  • If you do not find the specific email by narrowing the search, roll back to normal search mode by selecting the Try searching again in All Mail items option, located at the bottom of the search results page.
  • You can also use the Ctrl + Alt + A shortcut keys or click on the All mail items link under Mail Folders button to extend the search.
