Steps To Create A Web Folder In Your Computer

Windows 7 and Windows Vista computers come with a large number features integrated in them. You might have found many websites, which allow you to work with different files online. Now, if you wish to move these files to your computer, you can easily do this with a few simple steps. In this post, we will find out how to create a web folder in your Windows 7 or Windows Vista computer.

Steps Involved

According to Windows Vista help center, it is advisable that you do not create a web folder if you are using a shared computer. This is because others could access the files saved in the computer. The steps involved in the process are explained below.
  • Press the Windows logo on the keyboard and open the Start menu.
  • Locate Computer from the right pane of the Start menu and click it.
  • When you are in the window for Computer, you will find various hard disk partitions. Right-click the vacant space in the window and you will receive a small sub menu, which has different options like View, Sort By, Refresh etc.
  • Select the option Add a Network Location, which you can find above the option Properties.
  • The above step launches the wizard for Add Network Location. In the welcome page of the Add Network Location wizard, choose the button Next.
  • Below the question, Where do you want to create this network location, you will find two choices. The first option is MSN Communities and the next one is Choose a custom network location. Select the second option and click the button Next.
  • The next window comes with the heading Specify the location of your website. Type the URL of the website in the space for Internet or network address. You will receive a small box for Examples, which shows you the examples for shared folder, web share and FTP site. Look at this example before entering the website URL.
  • Click the button Next.
  • A new window pops up, which asks you to enter the User Name and Password for the website, which you wish to access.
  • Enter the details and mark the box for Remember Password.
  • Click the button OK.
  • Select the button Next and then Finish to complete the setup.
With the above steps, you can add a web folder in your computer. For further help, you may contact Windows Vista help center or our technical support team.
