However, sometimes, the AutoComplete feature many not work in the 2010 and 2013 versions of the program.

The above-mentioned error could occur due to numerous reasons. One of the common reasons behind this trouble is an add-in called Outlook Change Notifier. How To Resolve ISTORX32.DLL Error When Starting Outlook

Microsoft Outlook is one of the most widely used email applications by the Windows users. However, sometimes while starting up the Microsoft Outlook, you might encounter error messages. The prime reason for such an error message is usually a corrupt add-in. This add-in may also corrupt your PST folder, where your personal information is stored. To repair a corrupt PST, Inbox Repair Tool is the solution. But, if this fails, you should restore the corrupted file from a suitable backup or use a powerful PST Repair application that can repair and restore the damaged PST file.

While trying to start MS Outlook, you might receive the below error message:

cannot start outlook, The add-in <Drive_Letter>:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\<OS>\ISTORX32.DLL could not be installed or loaded. This problem may be resolved by using Detect and Repair on the Help menu.

The application may start, but you would encounter this error at each start of the application.

As mentioned earlier, such an error message occurs mainly if the Control Data Extensions Add-in is corrupt. This is because Microsoft Outlook loads all its add-in components when starting the application. If it cannot find the required add-in at the startup, the application prompts the error message, stated above. It can also result if this add-in is missing. However, in some cases, chances are that your Outlook PST is damaged or is suffering from some minor corruption issues.

You can follow the below-mentioned steps to troubleshoot this issue and fix it:
  • In the first step, click the option OK on the error message. This would help you to close the error message window.
  • Once you close the error message window, select the option Tools in the menu.
  • In the next step, click Options and then select the option Other. At any point of time, you can also contact the Microsoft helpline, if you cannot start Outlook and would like to get more information on the Outlook issues.
  • Now, click the Advanced Options followed by Add-In Manager. Since you need to exclude the affected add-in, click on the Control Data Extensions check box to clear it.
  • Now, you can save the settings by clicking OK and restart the Microsoft Outlook application.
Hence, these steps would help you to fix the start up issues in Outlook. However, if the PST files are corrupted, the best option would be to use the Inbox Repair Tool or Scanpst.exe to fix the corrupt files.
